Make It Monday...graduated backgrounds

So I finally got back to stamping today.  (instead of stamping eariler this week I made my youngest 2 summer nightgowns considering it had been in the mid 80s....crazy.)

So the make it monday challenge is to make graduated backgrounds...with ink refills and water color or copics...I used  the latter till I get refills to try the others style.
This is actually my second time doing these....i copied Nicole from her blog post when this stamp set (Happy Trails) first came out.

I did 2 cards this time....keeping with my masculine challenge to make a man card for at least every girly card.
This was my first background.
Yellows, oranges, reds
Then I sprayed with glimmer mist...Love the outcome.

Then, I had to find the masculine colors, and I always look for my husband's approval on these so I went with greys and blues

I finished the card off with the light blue cardstock and a black shimmer paper, the shimmer was also die cut with the matching pti dragon fly die and stamped and embossed on black.
I only inked up the celebrate on the sentiment because the rest I figured would seem girly to my guy.

On the sunset colored back ground I also used the black shimmer again for a mat and for the pen.  I sprayed the background with glimmer mistand love how it looks.  messed up the stamping on the sentiment because the paper was curling and I didn't have enough hands, and didn't think to put it on the mat first to flatten it out...duh!

FIRST time rosettes color challenge

So this morning, I get my email blog post from Ashley Cannon Newell with her card from the embellish challenge.  I fell in love with the colors and felt moved to stamp!  So we did our grocery shopping and picked up my dear friend's little 4 yr old to distract mine so I could have a nap time stamping session!  Worked out so good that I am also going to get the blog posting done before nap and school pick up too!  Awesome!
The inspiration for the challenge:

On to the card....
Base card is hawaiian shores from papertrey ink.

I took kraft cs and used the lace impression plate from papertrey and ran it through my cuttlebug several times so I could punch out all the little pieces.

I then cut out my frilly flowers dies from pti and alternated them out of raspberry fizz and the pti Sweet Blush and put them together with a pearl brad that was from michael's years ago.  I curled the petals up for more dimension.

I hand cut the ribbon looking sweet blush card stock for the sentiment...which is another pti.... Tiny tags, which is stamped in the versa magic turquoise gem ( very close to the hawaiian shores match)

Since I actually did my own design and didn't case Ashley's card, which was actually my first thought, I am entering it into the challenge.

Thanks for visiting!

Make it monday kissing challenge

Make it Monday Challenge:  Kissing!

I have decided that since I have so few masculine cards in my stash, I would focus all possible challenges on making some.   (last one I did was green and purple, so that one was out!)

So I started looking through my stamps for the background stamp to kiss.... wow, don't have one, but my celebrations set from forever ago does have stars and circles, so saved there.

Next I look for a solid stamp, again, not an easy task.  But have masculine motifs, so guess we will settle on a boat for this card.
The patterned paper in the background is from an old stack from walmart
So I used 3 sets, all papertrey ink.
Celebrate....and die.
It's a celebration....circles kissed to boat.
Masculine motifs....boat.

And of course, in front of the card is the cheek tickler made for me by my almost 5 yr old.

So, could I give this to a make adult?  Or is the aqua mist with the brown look too "baby boy"?

I wasn't sure about trying other colors, but did anyways, with the limited amount that I have currently of papertrey ink colors.  I tried with spring moss and poppy and I think I like the spring moss the best.

Pinter-inspiration flourish challenge

I made this card for the flourishes' pinter-inspiration challenge of purple and greens.  Love it.

I used the sketch from sketch saturday challenge.  I stayed true to the design, but couldn't add the last embellishments . ...i am just not good at adding those and figured I would just ruin the card if I did.

And here she is....I just love this image from Flourishes!

It is a pretty simple card, but I prefer it that way.  When I add too much, it just looks wrong to me.  Not that there is anything wrong with that style, I really admire those who do that, but my brain does not work that way!

I used the water lilly from flourishes, colored with copics.

The sentiment is from out on a limb from papertrey ink.
All papers from dcwv.

Thanks for looking.

Here is my mother's day card early!  I am never so fast, so I am feeling good about getting this done ahead of time!  I must say a great BIG Thanks to the Simon Says Stamp challenge who spurred me on to make something for my mom!    I used the sketch from the Totally Gorjuss Challenge to help me with my creation.  And finally, the sunny yellow color scheme inspired by the Fab n Funky Challenge.

Make it monday, yellow and red challenges...birthday card

Used Frilly Flowers stamp set and die from pti and used the celebrations stamp set also.
The color combination was inspired by the Cupcake challenge
The Papertrey Ink Make it monday challenge was to partically cut out a die cut and I did that using the Frilly Flower die from Papertrey Ink.

Yellow paper is one from SU, but am unsure of the color :)  Poppy red from PTI.  Vintage mother of pearl buttons covered in glitter given to me from my mother.  Black and white bakers twine was used and a cuttlebug embossing folder for the background.

Hope you like it!
